Backshift terms of use

The short version
Backshift is a planning and calculation tool, not a payroll system. The amounts it shows are an estimate based on the rules you entered. Your employer’s payroll is the authority; the app exists so you can compare the two.
What the app does
You set up your rotation, the app fills the calendar, records the hours you actually worked and works out what the month comes to. All of it happens on your device. Downloading and using the app means you accept these terms.
The numbers are an estimate
You enter the wage rules, the premiums and the breaks, and the calculation follows from them. Tax, deductions, a collective agreement or a practice specific to your workplace can change the result. Where your payslip and the app disagree, the payslip is right. The payslip check screen is a comparison that shows you the difference — it is not a formal objection.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or over to use Backshift. Under 18, only with a parent or guardian who knows about it and consents.
Subscriptions and purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled by the App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is switched off at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You manage renewal and cancellation in your App Store account settings, and refund requests go to Apple.
Your data is yours
There is no account and no copy of your data on a server of ours. That means nobody looks at it — and it also means we cannot bring it back if it is lost. Take a backup, or turn on iCloud sync, before you delete the app or change device.
Calendar sharing
You decide who you share your calendar with, and you can stop at any time. The shared view carries shift hours and leave days; it does not carry your rate, your earnings or your notes. What the other person does with what they see is not something we can control.
What not to do
Do not use the app for anything illegal, do not try to reach the source code or reverse engineer it, do not work around the payment checks, and do not interfere with anyone else’s use of it. Beyond that the app is yours to use as you like.
What belongs to us
The app itself, its name, its mark, the interface design and the text inside it belong to Deha Studios. You have the right to use the app; you do not have the right to copy it, distribute it or build derivatives from it.
Limitation of liability
Backshift is written as carefully as we know how, and it still cannot be guaranteed free of mistakes. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from your use of — or inability to use — the app, including a missed shift, an earnings figure that came out wrong or a record that was lost. The official record of your hours and your pay sits with your employer.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version is published on this page. For a change that matters the app says so as well, rather than leaving it to a date at the top of a page.
