Backshift privacy policy

Last updated: 18 September 2026

The short version

There is no account. Your shifts, your hourly rate, your notes and your records are stored by the app on your own device. We cannot see them, and we do not receive them.

What stays on the device

Shift types, rotations, the calendar, actual records, notes, wage rules, the work target and every app setting. Turn on airplane mode and all of it still works.

iCloud sync

Off until you switch it on. When it is on, your data is copied to your own iCloud account so your devices agree with each other. It is Apple's storage under your Apple Account — it does not pass through any server of ours, and we have no access to it.

Calendar sharing

If you share your calendar with someone, they see shift hours and leave days. Your hourly rate, your earnings and your notes are never included in what is shared. You can stop sharing at any time, and stopping removes their access.

What we collect

Nothing. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking identifier and no crash reporter that sends us your content.

Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are handled by Apple. We receive the fact that a purchase exists so the app can unlock, and nothing else — no card number, no name, no address.

Support email

If you write to [email protected] we have your message and your email address, because that is how a reply works. We use it to answer you and for nothing else.

Children

Backshift is a work tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone, of any age.

Deleting your data

Settings, then Data management, then “Delete all data”. Deleting the app removes it too. If iCloud sync is on, turn it off before deleting or the data may return from another device.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will say so rather than leaving it to a date at the top of a page.
